Radiating Nerve Pain

Radiating leg pain, commonly known as “sciatica,”  can result from various underlying conditions, such as herniated discs, spinal stenosis, or muscular imbalances.

Chiropractic care is a highly effective treatment for relieving radiating nerve pain because most radiating pain is caused by a “pinching” of the involved nerve from the spine. If you experience this type of pain, we can help provide relief by decompressing the “pinched nerve” through techniques such as joint manipulation and decompression therapy, which reduces pressure on the nerve.

We combine our treatment with other therapeutic methods to help our patients recover faster. If needed, we will work with your primary care physician to provide the right medication management as we work with you through your treatment cycle.

Chiropractic care has emerged as the safest, lease expensive, and most successful approach to managing lower back pain.

When it comes to sciatica, chiropractors use several approaches to address the underlying causes to provide relief. These techniques may include:

Spinal manipulation

Spinal manipulation helps to restore proper spinal alignment and mobility by applying a controlled force to specific joints. The goal is to reduce nerve irritation and inflammation, which will help alleviate the pain of sciatica as well as other forms of nerve compression related pain.

Mobilization

Gentle stretching and joint movements can improve range of motion and reduce tension thereby relieving pain. Mobilization is often used when spinal joint manipulation is not suitable because of a patients pain level. Think of it as a starting point for some patients.

Physical therapeutic modalities

Chiropractic Medicine incorporates therapeutic modalities such as ultrasound, electrical simulation, heat and cold pack, interferential stim, and DTS decompression therapy to complement spinal manipulation. Most patients enjoy this therapy.

Exercise or rehabilitation

Therapeutic exercises and stretches may be prescribed to strengthen muscular support, improve flexibility and posture. These exercises can help reduce pressure on nerves and prevent future episodes of sciatica.
